Which iPhones announced are compatible with iOS 15?

The next version 15 of iOS should be released in fall 2021. Apple presented the major new features that should arrive with this update during its annual WWDC keynote on June 7, 2021.Find herethe summary of the presentation elsewhere.

Except that to benefit from the improvements, you will need to have a compatible device. However, we know that iOS regularly leaves iPhones on the side of the road, logical, given that the system requires more and more resources.

So without further delay, here is the list of iPhones (and iPods) that will be able to support iOS 15.

Which iPhone for iOS 15?

iOS 15 can be installed on the following iPhone and iPod:

  • All iPhones of 2021
  • iPhone 12 Pro et 12 Pro Max
  • iPhone 12 and 12 mini
  • iPhone 11 Pro et iPhone 11 Pro Max
  • iPhone 11
  • iPhone XS
  • iPhone XS Max
  • iPhone XR
  • iPhone X
  • iPhone 8
  • iPhone 8 Plus
  • iPhone 7
  • iPhone 7 Plus
  • iPhone 6s
  • iPhone 6s Plus
  • iPhone SE (2020)
  • iPhone SE (2016)
  • iPod touch (seventh generation)

Note that this new list includesthe same iOS devices as last year's list of iOS 14 compatible iPhones. All users who can therefore benefit from iOS 14 on their iPhone or iPad will be able to install iOS 15! Excellent news!

This is quite remarkable, considering that the iPhone 6s, the oldest iOS device on the list, is from 2015. Which means that iOS 15 can be installed on devices as old as 6 years old. That's a year longer than the average number of years iOS continues to be supported by the iPhone,as seen there.
