The rack format is practical for inserting machines into rack shelves or even rack boxes and cabinets. This is a format widely used in different professional worlds, such as audio, but also in cinema and video more generally.
The advantage of the rack format is the fact that it is standardized. A rack device can therefore be fixed in a multitude of compatible receptacles.
The Mac Pro,when it was released late last year, was then offered in tower format only. But its sheet showed a grayed out option for choosing the rack format. Apple also specified that the rack format for its new machine would arrive later.
And it was just a few hours ago today that the rack format for the Mac Pro was indeed available.

It should be noted that the bill is steeper for the latter, compared to the classic tower format:
- Mac Pro format tour :6 499 eurosin basic configuration
- Mac Pro in rack format:7 199 eurosin basic configuration
This makes a difference of 700 euros between the two formats.

Apart from the price and the format of the tower, nothing changes. Regardless of the format chosen, the same options are offered in the configurator, and the computer always remains aexample in terms of repairability.

For information, with this addition of 700 euros, the Mac Pro can now reach a price of65 292 euros, checking all options and choosing the most expensive components. Is it more expensive than the competition? Not really,as we saw here.
