The Canalys institute has just revealed its ranking of the best computer sellers for the third quarter of 2022. We discover, without much surprise, that those from Apple are the only ones to experience growth with+20.4% units sold from one year to the next. Despite everything, the Apple firm is far from being the first on the podium since this place is reserved here for the Chinese Lenovo. The company fell by 24.1% compared to 2021 and its market shares lost 0.8% compared to the third quarter of 2021. Apple, on the other hand, went from 11.8% of the pie to 18.2%.
The rise in Mac prices, however, could be worrying: from 1,129 euros for a MacBook Air M1 (in the 256 GB version) when it was released, thetariffrose to 1,299 euros for its successor which arrived last July and with the same storage capacity. Several factors could explain these changes, including a shortage of processors in Asia and inflation in Europe.
HP, world number two
With 26.7% market share in 2021 compared to 21.5% in the third quarter of 2022, HP is doing rather poorly compared to the others, in fact its score shows the largest drop in sales (-36,9%since 2021). The manufacturer would also be in bad shape if its latest financial results are to be believed, whichcould cause harm to one of the most massive investors across the Atlantic: Warren Buffet.

Fourth place in the Canalys top 5 goes to Dell, which with 1.9 million personal computers sold in the third quarter of 2022 is placed just behind Apple (2.3 million). But the manufacturer is already thinking about tomorrow: its research and development department has just updatedits easily removable battery concept. The idea here is to allow us to quickly upgrade a device in poor condition, which is not the easiest with a MacBook.
Asus is also in the red
Confirming that it is therefore the entire market - except Apple - which is struggling to get its head above water, the Taiwanese Asus for its part plunges by almost 25% in twelve months, with market shares increasing from 15% at 14.4% over the same period. But let's not forget that the company also designs smartphones, suchthe excellent ROG Phone 6 Pro geared towards gaming.
The beast has a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip and18 GB of RAM(!) for 512 GB of internal storage. On the back, three photo sensors are there: a fifty-megapixel wide-angle, a thirteen-megapixel ultra-wide-angle and a five-megapixel telephoto lens. Base price: 1,329 euros…
