Upon receipt of the helmet,iFixitembarked on the step-by-step dismantling of theApple Vision Proin order to study its components. They have already explained to ushow Eyesight worked, the functionality that reproduces the user's gaze on the external screen, thenhow difficult it was to take it apart, and «real nightmare».

iFixitrecently published another video where they study new points this time. They start with the headset screens, their pixel density, as well as their display quality. They continue their analysis by comparing the Vision Pro to theQuest 3ofMeta, then present the battery and the M2 and R1 processors. The analysis then ends withassigning a repairability rating to the helmet. As you probably guessed from the title, the Apple Vision Pro only gets 4/10.It is therefore better to take care of it, especially since the prices to repair it are exorbitant. Anyway, let's see two of the points cited above in detail.
50 times more pixels than iPhone 15
After analyzing each pixel under a microscope, then performing various calculations,iFixitconcludes that Apple's mixed reality headset displays 50 pixels in the single pixel area of the iPhone 15. Thus offering a much finer and more detailed image, thanks to the exceptionally high pixel density. However, this is not a very revealing calculation.
More precise than Meta Quest 3
If the calculation to compare it to the iPhone is not very significant, it is because it does not take into account the number of observable pixels per degree of vision, or PPD. By comparing the pixels of the Vision Pro to the Quest 3, however, we can integrate the PPDs and judge which one offers the best rendering. The results ofiFixit:
We calculated that the Apple Vision Pro has an average PPD of around 34 pixels, based on a 100-degree field of view, which appears to be accurate when comparing it to the Quest 3 very precisely — Compared to the Quest 3, the Apple Vision Pro's field of view is slightly narrower — but the image quality is significantly better.
To learn more, particularly about the battery, as well as chip analysis, you can watch the video below. It is in English, but translation of the French subtitles is available.
Do not hesitate to consult one of the rare tests in French of the Apple Vision Pro by our colleague Mickaël Bazoge from 01Net. He explored every corner of visionOS for a week to provide us with his impressions with a complete analysis of the headset, both in writing and on video.See the test.
