After Netflix's recent announcement ofremove AirPlay supportof its application, many users think the video streaming service abandons Apple's platform, but it seems that this is not the case.
Netflix has just announced aimproving the audio quality of its content, for Apple TV 4K users, but not only. This improvement is automatic and is done on Netflix's side, and not via an update of the app.
According to Netflix, this new “high quality sound” for its video content, should make it possible to offer a listening experiencesimilar to that in the studio, in order to “be able to hear every little sound detail in a scene”.
For users who know about it, 5.1 sound goes from 192 kb/s to 640 kb/s, this concernsmost devices. For devices supporting Dolby Atmos, such asl’Apple TV 4K, this goes from 448 kb/s to 768 kb/s.
Netflix reminds that Dolby Atmos is only available for subscribers to the €13.99 per month package. They also indicate thatthe sound quality automatically adapts depending on the bitrateof the internet connection, as is already the case for the image.
