With the replacement program
used iPhone batteries eligible, Apple Stores see influx of
many users coming to make a replacement for a new battery.
And we saw yesterday that a battery exchange procedure had led to
the conflagration of itin a
Apple Store in Zurichin Switzerland.
One day later, here is anew battery incidentwho has
caught fire in an Apple Store in Valencia, Spain. Fortunately there was no
injured because employees reacted quickly by applying the right
safety instructions.Several reasonscan explain these
repeated incidents.
The Spanish newspaper Las Provincias mentions that the firefighters did not have to
intervene, because the staff reacted well by opening the windows to evacuate
smoke from the battery and throwing sand on it.
The newspaper report does not mention which iPhone model it is, it
may however seem worrying that two similar incidents occur
in such a short time.
Several reasons can partly explain these two incidents, such as
manufacturing defectof the battery, abattery
damagedby the user, abad battery
qualitypurchased online and replaced by the user or service
tiers.
There is finally one last hypothesis, Apple staff are trying to carry out
battery replacementsat a faster pacebecause
of the volume of users wanting a new battery, and they can take
less precautionsto keep up with the pace.
Given the number of users wanting to performa replacement
worn out battery(or not), this increases the chances that this type
incident occurs.
In the event of a swollen battery, which often results in the window
takes off from the iPhone, it is advisable to go to an Apple and not
especially not carry out a replacement yourself.
