Like iPadOS 14.5 and macOS 11.3, both still in beta testing, the latest tvOS 14.5 beta shed light on new information about upcoming Apple products.
In the source code of the system, while in previous versions, we could read the mention “Siri Remote”, this is no longer present, replaced by the mention “Apple TV Remote”. In addition, the words “Home Button” became “TV Button” in passing.
This could constitute sufficient evidence supporting the fact that Apple would havein his drawers a new order for his TV box. Especially since many analysts agree on the fact that this year, we would be entitled to aNext-generation Apple TV.
So, if the rumors until now announced only internal changes for this new Apple TV, tvOS 14.5 seems to indicate that the refresh would also concern the remote control delivered with the box. Would this then be similar to a console controller? Apple indeed seems to be turning more and more towards video games, notably with Apple Arcade launched in 2019, but also with support for Xbox Series and PS5 controllers coming to tvOS and iOS 14.5.
Apple TV 2021: the Apple "console".
Remember that the Apple TV currently in the range dates from 2017. A renewal of the product soon would be more than welcome. And in fact, the Apple TV of 2021 should be delivered with a new latest generation Apple chip and possibly more RAM. The idea being to give the TV box the power necessary to power video games with a production level of AA or even AAA.
Many people are indeed expecting this new box in terms of video game capabilities.
