The very first iPhone SE arrived in 2016. While the legendary format of the iPhone 4 and 5 had disappeared in favor of a larger screen on the iPhone 6. The SE would arrive as a version for nostalgics, offering a format that had worked very well in the early 2010s.
Last year Apple released a second version of the iPhone SE, which takes the form of an iPhone 8, notably keeping the home button. A strong advantage of the 2020 iPhone SE is its A13 chip, the same as in the iPhone 11, a guarantee of the product's quality of execution.
Building on its momentum, Apple could very well offer a new iPhone SE next spring, to perpetuate the model over time with annual versions. But according to Ming-Chi Kuo this is not at all in Apple's plans.
To make this claim, the analyst is based on camera orders made by Apple for iPhones in the first half of 2021, and there is nothing to suggest that an iPhone SE is in the works.
With a delayed release of the iPhone 12 and its entire range (the iPhone 12 mini and 12 Pro Max are still not delivered) the release of a new Apple phone could be too much in the first half of the year of 2021.
To go along with this new analysis, it seems that Apple has planned to increase production of these iPhone 11 and XR in recent weeks. Certainly, in anticipation of the end-of-year holidays, but Apple could also want to give these models more time on the market, which always sell very well.
At the end of his report Kuo gives his predictions for the future of the iPhone SE. According to him, the next model will have a 5.5-inch screen, instead of the current 4.7 inches on the iPhone SE 2020. A sign of the end of the borders on the screen of this third generation model? Nothing less sure.
Kuo also recalls in his report that the development of the iPhone 13 is on track and that its release should take place in the fall as one would expect. He affirms that this future phone arrives with real developments, particularly in terms of the camera.
