Why iPhone 6s and 6s plus will weigh a little heavier in the pocket

When we
compares the specifications of the iPhone 6 with those of the iPhone 6s
, on
immediately notice a weight gain of 14 grams for the new model,
and 20 grams for the iPhone 6s Plus.

The weight gain doesn't really come from the new 7000 series aluminum
used to reinforce the strength of the hull, because even if it is denser
than the 6000 series aluminum used in the iPhone 6, the weight remains almost
the same.

It doesn't come from the battery either because the size of it has
decreased in the iPhone 6s compared to the old model.

The main culprit of this weight gain is the screen which integrates two
new technologies: 3D Touch and the Taptic Engine. The screen of
the iPhone 6s weighs 29 grams, more than double that of the iPhone (weighing
12 grams). The “Taptic” engine was also added to the package.

Besides, Apple had to reduce the size of the battery (for the same
autonomy) and use this space to integrate these new technologies.

In detail, here is the evolution of the weight between the two machines:
