WiFi in the TGV: a first line equipped from December 15

Asplanned
at the beginning of this year
, the Paris-Lyon line will be finecovered
in WiFi before 2017
. More precisely, it will be theDecember 15
next
that travelers will be able to benefit from an internet connection
on board these trains. This is a first step in the national projectTGV
Connect
. For the future, the SNCF hopes to fully cover the
TGV network, a good part of which, from next year:

In19 trains between Paris and Lyon, from tomorrow, it will be
possible to connect to the train's WiFi network from the phone,
from a tablet or laptop. The connection will be made via a portal page on
which you will need to enter your file number.

Once online, the user will be able to surf as they wish, but
also have additional information, such as its consumption of
data as well as details on the route and the services offered to
bord.

All this is done thanks to the implementation, by Orange, ofmore than
one hundred pylons
on the surroundings of the TGV line, making it possible to cover
trains with a 3 or 4G connection, retransmitted to customers via WiFi.

In fact, the bar car picks up the network using eight antennas on the
roof and distributes it to each car thanks to an access point on each
of them.

In the first quarter of 2017, the French railway company planned to
also cover the Bordeaux, Lille, Strasbourg, Rennes and Marseille lines.
This corresponds to approximately18,000 antennas deployedthe long
des rails.

After the
WiFi in SNCF stations
, here is surfing on the internet with more than 300
km/h.
