Exactly three years ago, Niantic launched the game Pokémon GO, which quickly became a social phenomenon, with people playing everywhere in the streets and parks. The excitement has since subsided, however the game still has many players.
It even appears that the game is more popular three years later than one would think, since it generated even more revenue than Candy Crush, during the first three years of existence.
More precisely, according to figures from the Sensor Tower firm, Pokémon GO would have generated$2.65 billionrevenue, including the App Store and Google Play Store.

For comparison, for the first three years after launch, it did better than Candy Crush or Clash Royale, but not as well as Clash of Clans with $3.1 billion.
These figures do not take into account revenue from the Chinese market, as Pokémon GO is not yet available in China.
The US market is the most profitable for Pokémon GO, accounting for 35% of revenue with $928 million in revenue. Then in second position, we find Japan which accounts for 29% of revenues with 779 million dollars.
Regarding the distribution of revenue between Android and iOS, Google Play comes first with 1.43 billion dollars, and the rest for the App Store, i.e. 1.22 billion dollars. iOS revenue comes predominantly from iPhone users, with only 1.6% of revenue coming from iPad users.
During the first half of 2019, Pokémon GO generated $395 million worldwide, a figure up 19% from the same period last year.
It therefore appears that after a meteoric start and a gradual decline in the number of players, thanks to several content updates, the game continues to attract new users.
