Earlier this year, the European Parliament voted to end cablesLightning, deemed harmful to the environment and consumers. Logically, given that it is USB-C technology which is present in the competition, but also on Mac computers and iPad Pros of which the fourth generation is out, we could therefore expect to see this solution also land on iPhones.
Their next generation is expected for the month of September, during a supposed keynote where four different models would be revealed, with screens5.4 to 6.7 inchesaccording to the most numerous rumors. This should indeed always be equipped with proprietary connectivity, but this would not be the case for the following models.
100% wireless?
Indeed, it will still take time before theEuropean Commissionofficially validates the choice of USB-C as the universal system, and the deadline to comply with the regulations will probably reach the 2021 calendar.
But by then, Apple could have finished developing its AirPower, and offer iPhones without a female socket which would recharge only using Qi induction. A real snub to Europe, whilerelations between the two organizations are at a time of relaxation.
