Apple has planned big changes for the year 2025 and the iPhone should not escape them. After WWDC 2024 marked by the arrival of Apple Intelligence, it would be the hardware's turn to be entitled to size changes. Among the big changes expected regarding the iPhone, Apple is expected to launch a brand new model, the iPhone 17 “Air”.
This thinner version of Apple's smartphone would replace the iPhone "Plus", marketed for years by Apple. In a recent report on the subject, the Wall Street Journal explains that this new iPhone “Air” would, despite its novelty,cheaper than the Pro and Pro Max versions. It would thus take up the space left free by the disappeared iPhone Plus.
Several indications in this report tend to say thatl’iPhone « Air »should have the same starting price as the latest iPhone Plus, i.e. $899 on the other side of the Atlantic (€1119 in France). With a new name and a new design, this iPhone “Air” could well become the most attractive of the four, especially if the price remains accessible for a large part of Apple's customers.
An exclusivity on the 5G modem?
But the Wall Street Journal does not only speculate on the selling price of this Air model, in its report the media also mentions the arrivala “homemade” 5G modem. We know that Apple has been working on this internally developed 5G modem project for years.
The Cupertino firmbought the specialized division of Intelfor a billion dollars and its deal with Qualcomm includes several clauses allowing Apple to develop its own competing chips. This component has therefore been on everyone's lips for several months. Several analysts first saw it in the iPhone SE (planned for next spring), but today it is the iPhone 17 “Air” undoubtedly judged morepremiumwho should hit the jackpot.
