If the design of the Apple Watch has not evolved since the first model, the next connected watch from the Apple brand could however evolve. It is not the traditional square format of the device that could change, but rather the Digital Crown, this round button surrounded by a discreet red circle.
What's new for the Digital Crown 2.0 of the Apple Watch?
Patents filed by Apple actually suggest that the Apple brand could remove the Digital Crown in favor of a single button with a design similar to the one positioned on the side. The new device would be positioned a little higher than the current one.

As the patent shows, the user could be able to perform the same actions as with the Digital Crown of the current Apple Watch, but by moving their finger down on this new side button. It would therefore allow the same functionalities as the two old systems, but with a single button.
As always, it is possible that the technology highlighted in this patent will never see the light of day and that the documents will end up being forgotten. However, it is interesting to see the avenues that Apple is following to develop its connected watch.
We will have to wait for the traditional keynote in September to find out for sure. In the meantime, it is also possible thatthe Apple Watch Series 5 will be entitled to its RED version from April.
