Just like iOS 18 and iPadOS 18, watchOS 11 will be released atnext fall. The date still remains unclear, as does the content of the update, in reality. Indeed, Tim Cook and his acolytes, during theWWDC 2024, have not been very talkative about the new features of the OS. For now, we have to make do with features likeactivity load, the new applicationVitalsfor vital data, or even aimproved menstrual cycle tracking. New dial customization options are also available.
Apart from the changes, what is also of interest to the public is the list of compatible watches. Before the announcement of the update, we were counting on the Apple Watch Series 4 being abandoned when switching from watchOS 10 to 11. But now that the compatibility list is official, it is no longer the time for speculation . Let's see without delay which watches will be able to install watchOS 11 at the end of the year.
watchOS 11: for which Apple Watch?
Here is the list of watches compatible with watchOS 11:
- Apple Watch SE 2022
- Apple Watch Series 6
- Apple Watch Series 7
- Apple Watch Series 8
- Apple Watch Series 9
- Apple Watch Ultra 1 et 2
watchOS 10 kept the same batch of compatible watches as watchOS 9, while there were already fears of an end to support for the Apple Watch Series 4 released in 2018. A year later, we are facing several bad news. Not only theApple Watch Series 4 is condemned to remain under watchOS 10. But it is also the case ofApple Watch Series 5 and SE 2020, which was rather unexpected on our side
Fortunately, watchOS 11 does not bring any really impressive new features, like Apple Intelligence on iOS 18 and macOS Sequoia for example.
In any case, we hope that watchOS 12 will be less drastic next year and keep the same compatibility list as this one.
Notice to Apple Watch SE, Series 4 and 5 users among our readers: are you going to change models to take advantage of watchOS 11?
