The last few days have been intense and eventful regarding the choice of the one who
was going to buy SFR. Two offers were opposed: that of hisconcurrent
and partner Bouygueswho subjects his proposal to theresale of part of its antennas and
Free licensesand that ofNumericable which had fixed
an ultimatum for today.
Finally, the supervisory board ofVivendi decided and
decided to enter into exclusive negotiations with Altice (Numericable)
for a period of three weeks based on the offer of 11.75 billion
euros:
Vivendi therefore chose Numericable's proposal which seemed "the most
relevant for the shareholders and employees of the group and (which) offers the
better execution security.
With an offer of 11.75 billion euros plus the allocation of 32% of the
capital of the new entity, Numericable will therefore enter into negotiations
exclusive with the Vivendi group which owns the operator SFR. This marriage
should enable the Vivendi group to become a "major European player in
media and content and strengthen SFR as a dynamic player at the very top
fixed and mobile speed.
This choice also allows, in the end, to keep 4 operators on the site,
thus maintaining some competition in the operator market.
