The iPhone 5 would seem to be
the next iPhone model
presented by Apple next March. It would have the particularity of having
of a screen4 inches, asl’iPhone 5s
still marketed, while Apple made the choice, for its last 2
generations of iPhone, to move to a larger screen size.
The iPhone did not grow by simple trial and error, Apple must certainly
having carried out its investigation intomarket development. The latest
iPhone 6 and 6smeet
indeed a real success. The fact remains that the apple firm will be
ready to launch a new modelupdating its format from 3 years ago
generations.
But what is the public's appetite for such a format? This is what
we wanted to measure with your help andand
survey launched a few days ago. With more than 4,500 responses, here are the
most requested models, the impact of a 4 inch and a surprise concerning the
"Plus" :
The question was about what screen size you plan to choose for
the next iPhone renewal. This can be a 7 but also a 6, 6s or
other variations!
The answers allowed you to choose from the following possibilities:
4 inches (like the hypothetical iPhone 5se), 4.7 inches (iPhone 6 and 6s and
probably 7) or 5.5 inches (iPhone 6 Plus and 6s Plus and probably 7
Plus).
The numbers!
The results are ratherunanimous, the 4-inch format does not
seems not to be the priority but is not a negligible amount. Indeed,
environ19 %are considering getting an iPhone in this format.
The rest of the participants are divided between the 5.5 inch format (39%) and the
4.7-inch format (39% of votes).
This therefore confirms the results ofour survey
2014, according to which86 %were thinking of purchasing, in the future, a
iPhone larger than this 4-inch format. We nevertheless note a
progression of the 4-inch format, perhaps the appeal of novelty with this
iPhone 5s being rumored, and/or models are currently wearing out
used, which would push for renewal from now on.
On the other hand, while in 2014, 30% thought they would turn to the 5.5 format
inches, this year, this model is now tied with the 4.7
inches.
But beyond the figures, the comments allow us to go further on
the motivations are what we will try to decode now.
Your choices… explained
In fact, when reading the reasons, there is a particularity that we remember and
which often comes up among owners of 5.5-inch and 4.7-inch iPhones. He
is to say that once a larger screen size is tried, it is
can't go back to a smaller screenso much the gain
comfort is considerable. Even iPhone 6 Plus and 6s Plus owners
think difficultthe return to a 4.7 inch smartphone.

Some are more measured, adding that large iPhones are
interesting and practical, but to be convinced, Apple should do
efforts in terms of optimizationof the surface, in
eliminating as much space as possible between the edges and the screen. A 5.5 inch screen
oui,but a smaller and lighter iPhone!
The 18% who prefer to buy a 4-inch iPhone made themselves heard in
the comments and they are right, the important thing is the choice!
They explain their vote in particular by the fact that the small format is
much more practical to use, especially with one handet
therefore takes much more mobility than the large screen iPhones.
The 4-inch iPhone combo with iPad is also mentioned as a good
solution for those who appreciate the small format of a smartphone, but prefer, instead
at home or at professional work, have a larger screen.
Finally, we note a wish that comes up often and not only in this
survey: an iPhone on screenintermediate format, between
4.7 and 5.5 inches. Sizes of 5 and 5.2 inches well optimized in
in terms of size can give very pleasant machines in terms of
size and comfortable for the eye. But you shouldn't dream, it's little
likely that Apple is considering such a format. This is in line with the wish of
have an iPhone with a 5.5-inch screen, but with a smaller case and therefore
the size smaller than the current iPhone 6 Plus and 6s Plus.
Regarding the iPhone 5se, it is confirmed that it would have its customers,
certainly reduced in percentage terms, but multiplied by Apple's volumes,
this concerns tens of millions of sales! Suffice to say that even if
it's a "niche", it would allow Apple not to cut itself closely
of 1/5th of its customers by offering them a machine that is both up to date
on the technical side and perhaps more affordable in terms of price. Without forgetting the
countries in which the price of the iPhone represents months of salary and where
percentages would certainly be much higher!
Anyway, we should know more in March and it would be very
positive to see Apple offering an increased choice of comparable machines
technically.
Thank you everyone for your responses to this survey!
