Today June 13 is the Monday chosen by Apple
to open its annual conference dedicated to the world of developers: the
WWDC, pour Worldwide Developers
Conference. On this occasion and as always, a major conference is
given by the firm to the apple, during which the latter took for
habit of makingimportant announcementslinked to its
products, but also to its various software solutions.
Last year, iOS 9 showed up at WWDC,
just like the new Mac OS, among other new Apple Watch and Apple features
Music.
But tonight,
as anticipated, the announcements concerned software, leaving aside
the material. So no more new iPhones, new Apple Watch, new MacBooks
Pro and new iPad which will be on the program of the next conference, in
September normally.
So, a look back at what punctuated the presentation that has just been completed, very
dense and yet longer than usual, a sign that there is a lot of
new products, in various fields:
After long moments of seeing the room fill with Beats 1 radio
from Apple Music in the background, Tim Cook arrived with enthusiasm. He thanked
the audience, but before starting, the CEO took the opportunity to pay tribute
to the victims of the tragedy that struck the city of Orlando with a minute of
silence.
Some figures were presented about WWDC and apps. He
This is the 27th edition, 2 million apps are now available on
the App Store which has seen users make no less than 130 billion
downloads for $50 billion paid to developers.
Tim Cook ended his introduction by specifying that all
Apple platforms will send me changes and improvements, without
exception.
watchOS 3, more complete and faster
The emphasis is on the speed of launching apps with watchOS 3 and
improving ergonomics and access to different functions. A few
new applications are also there.
Let us first note the appearance of a dock bringing together app shortcuts,
accessible with the button on the side or an access button on the base screen.
You can choose which apps are integrated into the dock. A control center
is now displayed, like on iOS, using a swipe to
high.
Replying to messages is easier with shortcuts
additional and enriched intelligent responses. A new function
allows you to draw the letters by hand to let the watch detect the
words., without keyboard. This input method works in Chinese and English (not
details for other languages at the moment, but no reason why
is not widely available).
In addition to new emergency functions (to call for help
easily), watchOS 3 now includes a new health app
Breath. It allows you to relax, with the help of exercises.

Finally, let's add that watchOS 3 supports more and more apps natively,

As for the aesthetic side of watchOS 3, were presented
new complications and additional dials (one with Minnie, one
purely digital, an "activity") as well as the possibility of changing
dial easily with a simple left-right swipe.
The update will arrive in the fall, while it is already available for
developers.
tvOS, deserved additions
Apple presented new apps for Apple TV including Sling and Foxsport
Go for the US, but alsoMolotov.tv
for France or even Minecraft and NBA2K for games in particular.
But Apple also thought about updating, on the iPhone side, the Remote app for
the Apple TV. This new version of the app allows you to do, with the iPhone,
just as much as with the remote control, Siri and keyboard included to the point of serving as
gaming device.
Note the other additions designed for the Apple TV:
- Siri is now able to do much more, including searching on
YouTube - Appearance of the “Single sign On” function which allows you to
connect to all channel apps requiring authentication, using
a single identifier (US) - Introduction of dark mode with black and white inversion
- Automatic app download to Apple TV, when downloaded from
the iPhone or iPad. - For developers: added possibilities to integrate
Photo, Home Kit and other functions.
As for watchOS, arrival planned for the fall, but availability from
now for developers.
OS X is no more, long live macOS!
As anticipated a few days ago, the Apple operating system
loses its OS X name to be standardized with other systems
of Apple's operating system. OS X therefore becomes macOS and sticks to iOS, watchOS and
tvOS already widely installed in terms of brands.
The first version of macOS will be namedmacOS Sierra.
Scheduled for fall with the rest of the updates, it integrates several
Major improvements for Apple computers. The most important is without
doubt the arrival ofSiri.
Siri on macOS will thus be accessible via the dock or via the menu bar in
top right. The wizard will handle fairly complex requests and
will be able to understand details on a previous question via the
memorizing the context.
Here are some other exciting changes planned for macOS Sierra:
- automatic unlocking function: eliminates the need for a word
password on the Mac by unlocking the computer with the touchId of an iPhone or
the proximity of the Apple Watch - The "universal clipboard" will allow copying and pasting of content between
Mac, iPhone, iPad devices. This will of course allow the exchange of text,
but also images and videos. Certainly very practical!
- iCloud is improved and all documents are now shared on the
cloud, no need to put everything in an iCloud folder. Sierra will thus be able
make space locally by sending old, unused files to
iCloud.
- Apple Pay arrives on macOS via integration on Internet lists. THE
iPhone's Touch ID can then be used to pay on Safari Mac.
- On this occasion, Apple indicatedthat Apple Pay is coming in
Franceand in other countries (including Switzerland) in the coming
month
- Added navigation tabs functionality to any
app
- Picture-in-Picture: already present on the iPad, the function which is arriving
on Mac allows you to keep a video on top of other applications
Sierra is available to developers today and will be available in
public beta in July, for public availability in
autumn.
iOS 10, a significant update...
iOS 9 and previous versions were presented around the same time when
WWDC conferences from years past. It is therefore anything but surprising to
see iOS 10 revealed this evening. Several important new features have been
presented for this update considered to be a major one of the system
operating at the apple. Some confirm recent rumors (like the
new Apple Music app), others are good surprises (like the
what's new in the Message app).
Here is part of what will make iOS 10 specific, knowing that everything
is not described here, because not everything has been presented by Apple. We'll come back
in the days to come on iPhon.fr!
- new design for parts of iOS
- the lock screen is redesigned and allows you to display but also
to interact with rich notifications. 3D Touch is widely implemented
contribution for these interactions.
- a very practical function of waking up the iPhone by lifting the device face up
to yourself, without having to touch a button, is now implemented.
- improved 3D Touch functions on the icons: information will be
offered by the apps without having to launch it, instead of shortcuts
current, with greater openness to third-party developers
- appearance of an appHomewhich gives access to piloting,
scenes and other functions of Homeki compatible accessories. The functions
homeKit are now accessible through the Control Center
- improved telephone functions including written transcription
of a voice message without having to listen to it. Managing spam and calls
VOIP are better integrated into iOS
- Collaboration becomes possible in the Notes app
- Split View appears in Safari on iPad, this allows
to view two website tabs in parallel

iMessage
The Message application has undergone numerous improvements making
exchanges in the app that are much more dynamic and less textual:
- preview of web links in Messages directly
- easy addition of photos and emoticons (which can be offered
automatically)
- emoticons displayed in size x 3
- bubble effects that can be added to text (makes the bubble
more lively text)
- ability to write messages by hand and draw
- added full screen effects
- music sharing
- opening to third-party developers, with theopening an App Store
dedicated to Messages extensions(for adding stickers, GIFs,
collaboration etc.).
Recast plans
The Apple Plans app has not escaped this wave of app updates, with
added functions like:
- a new design
- smart suggestions
- opening to third-party developers with extension additions. We can by
for example make restaurant reservations directly in Plans, or
book an Uber ride without leaving the app.
Apple Music
The Apple Music app, as recently predicted, has experienced a big
redesign:
- more direct access to the personal library
- navigation made simpler
- reading lyrics for compatible songs
- mix of songs adapted to the user's tastes
- Beats radio is better integrated into the app
The improved Photo app
Another major update and not the least, that of the application
Photos, whose changes also have repercussions
on macOS and tvOS Photos:
- addition of the Places function which allows you to view all the photos on
a card
- added facial recognition to more easily sort and tag
photos
- added recognition of objects and scenes (cat photos, photo of
Christmas, etc.) for intelligent searches
- “Memories” function which classifies photos by theme (places, date, etc.),
also lists the people included in a theme, the places and even makes a
video editing with automatic music
- Editing Live Photos
Finally for the appNews, still unavailable from us
(no information on availability outside the US this evening…) suffered a
small facelift, with an improved presentation and the addition of functionality
subscription to certain magazines to receive notifications when
publications.
iOS 10 and these significant additions should arrive in the fall, like the
other versions of the different operating systems presented this evening.
And to finish
Tim Cook returned to the stage to highlight the language of
Swift development, with the presentation of an app for iPad. "Swift
Playground" makes learning programming easier for
children with various tutorials and exercises, some of which are presented from
playful and very graphically worked way.
And finally, what would a Tim Cook presentation be without a focus on
data security??
Thus, encryption of exchanges, particularly in Messages, is carried out
end to end. It was also added that all the functionalities
learning about a user's habits, their contacts or the
Photos are made on the device, without going through servers. What to put back

Apple's protective policy in this area when other competitors (Google
