The start of the year is off to a strong start with rumors from the Wall Street Journal that the 2019 iPhone Max could be the onlyto have a triple photo sensor. There was also talk of switching to a dual lens for the successor to the iPhone XR.
And now here is a report from the Macotakara site, which cites sources close to the production lines. It is mentionedsomething new for the iPod touchand theswitching to USB-C on 2019 iPhones.
According to Macotakara's sources, Apple is in the process of developing anew 7th generation iPod touchwhich should be released this year. The last time this product was updated was in 2015.
With this entry-level product, it is likely that Apple is targeting a rather young audience, who does not yet have access to a smartphone. This also makes it possible to generate revenue on associated services such as iCloud storage, Apple Music or the App Store.
This report also mentions that the 2019 iPhones couldabandon Lightning to switch to USB-C, and would therefore follow in the footsteps of the new iPad Pros of 2018.
Macotakara says, however, that the transition to USB-C has not yet reached the design phase, suggesting it could be pushed back to next year.
According to the first rumors this year, it appears that we are moving towards two OLED models and still an LCD model. With a triple photo sensor on the largest model, and the switch to dual lenses on the LCD model. All three could potentially have a USB-C port, instead of Lightning.
