Salto: the streaming platform is launched in France

Become the showcase of French and European creation. This is the ambition of Salto, the new streaming platform from France Télévisions, TF1 and M6. Launched yesterday, it is available on iPad, iPhone and Apple TV using the dedicated application.

From €6.99 to €12.99 per month

The development of the new service has been anything but a smooth ride. Initiated in June 2018, it has long been awaiting an opinion from the Competition Authority. In August 2019, it validated the Salto principle by imposing certain conditions. The three channels must coordinate when purchasing the rights to certain content. They also have an obligation to “limit the possibilities of cross-promotion between their channels and the Salto platform”.

Three subscription options are ultimately offered. The first allows you to see Salto programs on a screen and costs €6.99/month. You will have to pay €9.99/month for a duo offer allowing you to view the platform's content on two screens simultaneously. Finally, a family plan allows you to watch Salto on four screens at the same time to€12.99/month.

As for content, Salto includes 15,000 hours of programs from launch, to which 5,000 hours will be added subsequently. There we find the flagship series of the three channels but also some nuggets likeFargoorThe Handmaid’s Tale.
