How to update your iOS device to version 14

It's very easy to update your iOS device, whether wirelessly (OTA) or via iTunes. However, no one is safe from problems during the procedure. This is why you should always remember to back up the device before installing a new iOS.

We therefore advise you to make a backup of your iOS device via iCloud or through iTunes,as explained here.

Once ready for installation, two solutions are possible:OTA(wireless) oriTunes.

For those who installed the beta and want to force update back to the public version of iOS 14,see here how to proceed.

For all users who have not installed the beta, see the rest of the steps below.

iOS 14 update OTA (without iTunes)

To update OTA:

  • go toSettings
  • chooseGeneral
  • ThenSoftware update

The update should appear on this page. Then click onInstaller.

iOS 14 update via iTunes

To update via iTunes, you must:

  • connect your iPhone or iPod to the computer on which iTunes is installed
  • click on the corresponding iPhone or iPod icon that appears in the iTunes window
  • click onTo updateon the right, below the small ad indicating that the new version of iOS is available
  • then follow the few steps indicated

In both cases, you have to show a little patience, it happens that Apple's servers are heavily used in the first hours following the availability of the update.
