On the occasion of the conference for
Apple developers in 2014, the Cupertino company unveiled a new language
programming,Swift, which aims to become the
successor to Objective-C for the development of iOS, macOS,
watchOS and tvOS.
Swift has since gone open source in December 2015. Adopting a
new language by developers actually always takes a certain
temps.
However, according to a new ranking published by TIOBE Index, it appears
whatSwift is progressing quite quicklyetgain in
popularityto the developer community.
Swift won4 places en 1 anto rise to the month of
March 2017 at the10e positionof the ranking. He takes advantage of it to
move past languages like Perl or Ruby.
A nice feat for a language which will soon celebrate its 3rd birthday, so
that the other programming languages in the top 10 are more than 20 years old
ans.
According toa recent
study published by Upwork, the largest marketplace for
independent in the United States, tech companies are increasingly
looking for developers who master Swift.
In addition, Apple is increasing initiatives to promote the adoption of Swift
by the younger generations, notably by launching at the end of last year, Swift
Playgrounds (available here on the App Store), an iPad app dedicated to learning
fun of Swift programming through various games and exercises.
