Review of the RainBallet waterproof case for iPhone 4/4S

The sunny days are coming back (and the rain too) and you may wish
take your iPhone to damp or very dusty places, or even
photograph or film underwater!

In order to protect your iPhone from these harsh conditions, in addition to the pouches
waterproof
like the one tested here
, there are waterproof shells like theLifeProofthat we hadtested and appreciated in this post
test
, the best in our opinion among waterproof iPhone cases
until then.

To continue our comparison of these protection solutions in use
very particular, it is theRain Balletpour iPhone 4 / 4S ,
that we present to you
in this post
which will be the subject of a test (the80th accessories test
iPhone
) and acomparison with LifeProofin order to
help you make a choice if this type of product interests you in the approach
of summer:

First of all, the packaging is of good quality, in cardboard with a
transparent part to see the hull. The packaging is quite thick and the shell
should not suffer from a possible trip.

Once the hull is out, you immediately notice one thing: There is no
ano access to volume buttons,au
vibrator
,to the jack or dock. You will need
so take the iPhone out of the case to be able to recharge it. In what I
Concerning, this is a first rather negative point.

I of course did an empty test of the watertightness of the hull, not a
no drop has entered.

The case looks a bit like a case with a flap where you will place your
iPhone very easily in the upper part and you will have to push
strong enough to turn the 3 screws at the back, using a coin per
example, in order to properly close the shell.

Here again, I had my share of unpleasant surprises. In fact, if you have
installed theGlasT Premium
tested in this post
, the shell does not accept this thickness
additional and, by forcing, the contacts of the 3 screws at the rear have
marked the rear protective film that was installed. So I had to remove the
protective glass (very easily and it leaves no trace)
but I intend to give another one (which I had in advance 😉 ), the most
quickly possible.

2nd bad surprise, even with a simple film at the back, the3
screw marked protective film
. If a wipe has removed
the marks of the 2 screws on the sides, the film is in poor condition at the location of the
contact with the top screw. Either I'm a bit of a nag, but with a shell
so-called waterproof, I will not take the risk of closing the hull incorrectly, and I have too much
forced, or there is a design defect in the screws.

Even if I tried a little, seeing the screws make marks on the
film is a formidable fault. I can't even imagine the back of my
iPhone without this film.

Needless to say, the hull continued to decline in my estimation.

Once the iPhone is installed, we see that theopenings are
excellent quality at the APN level
and take photos or
videos with the camera located at the back (or front) pose no problem.
Finally, a first positive point.

The shell is very solid and Joy Factory has chosen to protect the most
possible the iPhone screen. If the intention is laudable, this also leads to
batch of defects. In fact, the fairly thick surround of the screen does not make
easily accessible the edges of the screen. A fault that we already had
when testingthe case

.

Thefilm that protects the screen is well madeeven if he
you have to press a little more but we suspected it a little and this is nothing to worry about.
dramatic.

The HOME button is also protected by a slightly more plastic part
soft but unfortunately not sufficiently. Indeed, it is necessary to exerciseforte
pressure so that contact with the Home button is made
and it is
annoying in the long run.

The shell is semi-transparent and a little smoked at the back and is really
very thick. Certainly, it is a guarantee of solidity for your iPhone in the event of
falls but the case will not fit easily in a pocket.

The sound comes out a little muffled but, once again, nothing dramatic,
especially for a waterproof hull.

Finally, to top it all off, as you will have to open the case to
recharge the iPhone, I noticed that the little rubber that surrounds the case
came out of its compartment each time the hull was opened. Even if she
Replaces easily, this is not a guarantee of good finish.

I couldn't help but take photos to compare the Rain Ballet
with theLifeProof.

From the front, we see that the LifeProof is slightly longer but we
can also see that the LifeProof system is much more comfortable for
use the iPhone screen.

As for thickness, La Rain Ballet is clearly much thicker than
la LifeProof.

In conclusion, if you are interested in a waterproof case, I can only
YOUdo not recommend the Rain Ballet shellfor the defects mentioned
above. The hullLifeProof s’avère plus fine, a lot
easier to use(possibility of adjusting the sound, putting
vibrating, openings for the jack socket and for the dock socket)

For those who are nevertheless tempted, theRain Ballet shell
