and also:

Sooner or later, USB-C should establish itself on our iPhones as it did on competing smartphones or on Macs. In practice, it is already present because USB-C chargers called “PD” for “Power Delivery” make it possible torecharge recent iPhones very quickly. They are used with acâble USB-C / lightning(for saleiciorTo be).

We were able to test and appreciate thetiny USB-C charger from Aukey here.

Today, we continue to discover this type of accessory with a charger againUSB-CPower Delivery but supplemented with a USB-A socket (the classic USB socket).

Able to rechargean iPhone, an iPad(or two of each) but also oneMac, here it is in details, in images, with our opinion.

No surprises on delivery, the charger is offered in its compact but protective cardboard packaging, with its instructions in French, an appreciable habit at Aukey.

The charger then appears relatively compact with on one side themale wall socket part, on the other the two USB-C and USB-A sockets:

Here he is in a photo with thecompact version tested hereto compare the size:

Use is then as simple as any charger you are used to: plug the charger into the socket and on the other side plug in the USB-C cable. It could be a USB-C/USB-C cable for charging a Mac or a USB-C/Lighnting cable for charging iPhone or iPad.

These cables are offeredchosen by Apple, or more recently byAnker, a version MFi, less expensive.

On the takeUSB-C, this charger is capable of delivering several intensities, depending on the voltage, namely: 5V/3A, 9V/3A, 12V/3A, 15V/3A, 20V/2.3 A.

On the takeUSB-A: 5V/2.1 A for fast charging of iPhone/iPad on this type of socket.

We then carried out the recharge tests.

This is what we get with aiPhone X starting from a 1% charge level, plugged into the socketUSB-C :

  • After 15 minutes: 28%
  • After 30 minutes: 52%
  • After 1 hour: 81%
  • Finally, after 1h30, the recharge is almost 98% complete.

Thetime to get to 50% in particular is impressive, since only half an hour is enough.

Charging a MacBook is also possible with this same charger, just by changing the cable, to switch to USB-C / USB-C. During the test with a recent 13-inch MacBook Pro, it recharges, but it should be noted that we obtain a time which is approximately half as fast as with the more powerful charger supplied with the MacBook (35% in 1 hour compared to 60% ) .

We also wanted to check if the two USB-C and USB-A sockets were indeed independent, to do this we checked if the intensity delivered by the USB-A socket had a drop in power delivered when another iPhone was plugged in. to charge on the USB-C socket. Good news, no problem when you connect another iPhone in parallel with the USB-C/cable. lightning, no change in the intensity delivered measured on the other iPhone. We have two fast recharges(one more than the other) which take place in parallel.

In the end, we certainly have a charger herelarger than the compact model seen here, but he has several advantages over his little brother. Thus, it can beused on the go with a fast charging iPhoneorwith a Macwhile charging another accessory or an iPhone. It's also similarly capable of charging the iPad via USB-A or USB-C.

Compact, fast for one or two iPhones, less for the Mac,this nevertheless makes it aParticularly light and practical all-round travel companionwhich only requires one socket and adapts to all Mac, iPhone, iPad digital paraphernalia and USB accessories.
