What water resistance for PowerBeats Pro? Encouraging test results

The Powerbeats Pro have recently been available. This is, in a way, a sportier version of the AirPods 2. To help you choose between the AirPods 2 and the Powerbeats Pro,see our article comparing 7 key points. Who says sporting activity, potentially means contact with the sweat of the athlete, or even going out by bike or on foot in the rain. And in this water resistance game, the PowerBeast Pro could do much better than the AirPods 2:

The PowerBeat Pros have passeddifferent water resistance tests at MacRumors recently. Precisely, 6 scenarios allowed us to see if the IPX4 grade waterproofness of the headphones is well respected. IPX4 means on paper aprotection against splashing water from all directions for 10 minutes.

But the MacRumors journalists obviously went much further. Here is the list of tests carried out:

  • in the sink, with the water tap on
  • in the shower for several minutes to simulate rain
  • in a bowl filled with water for 1 minute, 5 minutes and 20 minutes

In any case, the Powerbeats have notapparently suffered no damage. They were still functional.

It is impossible to say at the moment whether damage could appear in the long term after the experiments. But the results still allow us to conclude thatneither rain nor sweat should damage the Powerbeats Pro.

Good news for athletes, especially those not demotivated by bad weather!
