Threads tackle X (Twitter) with THE functionality it lacks

The CEO of Meta, Mark Zuckerberg, has just announced the arrival of a (free) edit button for the social network Threads. Some often describe this platform as an almost carbon copy of Twitter, even to the point that Elon Musk hasI triedlegal action to clarify this matter. However, the alternative of the billionaire born in South Africa only offers to modify a publication in return for funding…

Indeed, to be able to access the shortcut which allows you to change the text of a tweet already shared, you now have to pay no less than eleven euros per month on iOS – to name just one example. The price is different depending on the operating systems, with for example a price of 9.60 euros per month requested for users who subscribe directly from the Twitter website. The discrepancy could be explained by the App Store's regulations, which impose a 30% commission on most in-app purchases.

How does the new Threads edit button work?

There are some limitations for using the Threads edit button. First of all, you should know that the modification is only available during the five minutes after the publication of a tweet. A deadline which is reminiscent of that recently offered by Apple with Messages, limited for its part to only two minutes.

Moreover, Mark Zuckerberg has confirmed that his new editing functionality for Threads is already available. Deployed just yesterday, it should be accessible to all users. If this is not the case, you can try updating your app manually or wait a little longer: the change should not take long.

Voice posts are coming

At the same time, Mark Zuckerberg also clarified that voice Threads are being deployed. These are, as the name suggests, audio publications, which users can record directly with the microphone of their mobile phone. A French social network had also tried to focus on this type of oral content previously; Echo. But the project was quickly abandoned.

Vocal Threads are transcribed into automatically generated text. Then the audio and text are published together. If necessary, it is possible to correct the automatically created content – in case the transcription contains some errors.
