According to a discovery by our colleagues fromMacRumorsjust released, Apple has started testingiOS 16.6, even though this version is still unknown, both to the general public and to developers. An operation, however, carried out internally only for the moment, and in complete confidentiality. This probably means that the company is finalizing the last improvements to this edition before rolling it out in beta for coders. We can also assume that tablets will be entitled to iPadOS 16.6 shortly.
However, you will have to wait a minimum, sinceit is mainly iOS 16.5 which is being testedRight now. Everyone can already have access to it, but only in beta. However, this is the second advanced version of this numbering, a sign that we will still have to wait several weeks before the final is published. For iOS 16.6, which will follow, it will therefore be the end of May at the earliest.
Just a minor update?
iOS 17 should be revealed during theWorldwide Developer Conferencewhich will be held at the beginning of June. iOS 16.6 therefore has every chance of being only an insignificant update which will precede the one presented at the show, where many creators of apps for iPhone and iPad are invited as well as journalists from around the world.
During the event, we could also discover new hardware products from Apple, such as a virtual reality headset and Mac computers. At the same time, iPadOS 17, tvOS 17 and the next version of macOS are also expected.
Some new features are overdue
Note, however, that several clues to new features still not deployed by Apple could predict a launch of these with iOS 16.6 within the coming month. We are thinking in particular of the accountSavingsof the Apple Card, which will not be available in France in any case.
