iOS 16.5: list of all changes

May 18 update: iOS 16.5 is availableas announced there, with the update procedure described in this same article.

iOS 16.5 and iPadOS 16.5 have been available in beta since March 28. Discover all the changes these updates bring for iPhone and iPad here.

Please note that all smartphones and tablets supporting iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 will be able to install iOS 16.5 and iPadOS 16.5 once available to everyone, probably during the month of May.

What changes for iOS and iPadOS 16.5?

  • Apple News (unavailable in France):the “Search” and “Following” tabs become one to make room for the new “Sports” tab. The latter wants to make it easy to follow sports news and in particular those of your favorite sport and/or your favorite team.

  • Siri :the assistant can now trigger and stop a screen recording following a voice command such as “Hey Siri, record my screen on video”
  • Wallpapers:new “Pride” section in the settings for wallpapers supporting the LGBT+ cause, with the first wallpapers on this theme already included

  • tvOS 16.5 :detection in the source code of a multi-view option, which should allow users to view several video contents at the same time on their television
  • watchOS 9.5 :no notable changes seen yet
