Vision Pro: Netflix refuses to integrate Apple's headset

This is a slight blow for Apple.Netflixhas just informed its customers that it will not create a dedicated application for the new Vision Pro headset which will be released in the United States next month. Anyone who wants to use the streaming service with their device will therefore have to do so from the web.

In a press release released for the occasion, the platform explains as follows:“Our subscribers will be able to enjoy Netflix on the Vision Pro web browser, the same way our members can enjoy Netflix on Mac”.

Why won't Netflix create an app?

But this choice will not be without consequences for headset users. Indeed, they will not be able to download Netflix content to watch it offline. A very popular practice for long plane or train journeys. Likewise, customers will not benefit from immersive backgrounds which can make the experience much more pleasant thanks to Vision Pro.

In the absence of official justification, it is difficult to know the exact reasons for this decision. It is possible that Netflix does not believe in the commercial potential of Vision Pro and therefore does not want to spend money to develop an application.

Another explanation put forward by our colleague Mark Gurman fromBloomberg: Netflix and Apple are two rivals in the streaming market, and the entertainment giant may not want to help a competitor launch its new device.

Regardless, things are starting to become clearer for the Vision Pro. While applications dedicated to headphonesarrive on the App Store, the first feedback from journalists who were able to try it is starting to come in.

Many praise the immersive experience it provides, as well as the emotional connection with 3D video content. But others complain about the comfort and the pain that appears very quickly after its launch.
