The president of the French association law 1901, Jean-Baptiste Kempf, demonstrates it on a stand at CES 2025.

The media player can automatically translate and subtitle a video in French, Japanese, German and Hebrew. Jean-Baptiste Kempf indicates that VideoLAN's ambition is to makereal-time translation compatible with more than 100 languages.The founder of the association highlights that the work is done on the user's device, without going through the cloud. It is not yet known when real-time translation will be available on VLC for the general public.
Note that VideoLAN is experiencing a CES 2025 full of emotion, since it has just crossed a symbolic camp. “This year, we're not only showcasing cool VLC demos, but we're also celebrating an incredible achievement: over 6 billion downloads worldwide!», writes the association on its LinkedIn account. There is no doubt that VLC should continue to attract people thanks to this new function based on artificial intelligence. Hopefully real-time translation will come to othersvideo applications on iOS or why not, on Apple TV+.
