Don't know what to listen to? here is the best podcast of the year

Like every year, Apple has just given the list of its best podcasts. While waiting to know which are the most listened to titles of the year 2022 on the Apple Music application, the Cupertino company offers a ranking of the best podcasts available under iOS.

Apple's music streaming service is increasingly focusing on podcasts while the competition (like Spotify) already offers original content. With the Apple Podcasts Award, the Apple brand is trying to highlight creators who work to share their voice with the world and help listeners discover new things.

Slow Burn: the big winner

This year it's the seriesSlow Burn, already recognized by critics as a work of high quality, which won first prize. A very political distinction as the last season (of four episodes) returns to the Roe v. Wade. This piece of legislation has long served as jurisprudence to grant the right to abortion in the United States. It was recently overturned by the Supreme Court.

Released throughout June 2022, the four-episode season explores the events leading up to the historic 1973 ruling. For Oliver Schusser, Apple's vice president for Apple Music and Beats, the“podcast plays an increasingly important role in today’s world”, it is therefore essential to push this new type of communication to make it known to as many people as possible.

Host Susan Matthews, at the heart of this podcast series, looks at the story behind this new season.“I wanted to do this series because I was really discouraged by how polarized and blocked the conversation was around abortion, and it felt incredibly timely and important.”

Slow Burn: a series that looks back on American history

In addition to this first prize won by the podcast, Slow Burn now has six new unpublished episodes which are accessible only on Apple Podcasts. The first two seasons of the series are about the Watergate and Clinton-Lewinsky scandals.

Today Slow Brun is one of the most listened to podcasts on Apple Podcasts. Another series of episodes, hosted by Joel Anderson, looks back at the careers and tragic end of rappers Tupac and Notorious B.I.G.
