As planned in the plans of
reduction in roaming costs in Europe
detailed here, thenext June 15will see the removal of
these additional taxes in28 paysEU members.
That
has just been confirmedrecently by the European Parliament:
The latter, in agreement with the European Commission and the European Council,
voted to reduce communications costs between European operators, which
will result in atotal absence of taxation of
roaming] at the consumer.
To put it simply, a French person will have the possibility of using their package
in the EU at the same price as it does in France. This should encourage the
mobility within member countries and also relieve the portfolio of
many people, expatriates or cross-border workers.
The procedure for removing these roaming charges must still be validated
by different European and national authorities, before being able to be
applied, which, in current plans, should be done from June 15
next.
Some operators in France have already prepared the ground, by offering
for some time now, options or packages can be used in Europe at no extra cost
too important. This is first of all the case at Free which regularly integrates
and for monthsadditional destinations included in
the “free roaming” envelope of its largest package, chezof thempar
example, with a package including unlimited SMS/MMS for the entire
Europe, but also amongSFR
REDwith an additional option allowing the same thing.
It is therefore in this continuity that we will be able, with any
package from the date specified above, surf the internet, exchange
by SMS, or by voice at no extra cost, from any EU country.
