3 questions about the second, cheaper Apple Vision Pro

According to new information from journalist specializing in the Apple firm Mark Gurman, Apple is preparing an even more powerful Vision Pro, but also another more affordable one. It must be said that the product revealed during theWorldwide Developer Conferencecosts a whopping $3,499 across the Atlantic, which is not insignificant. But what more do we know about this next version? Analysis.

1 – What release date?

According to our source of the day, Apple's second mixed reality headset will be released in2025and more precisely at the end of the year. However, if this is the release date for the US market, then we might have to wait longer for France. This, without counting a possible developer kit.

For comparison, the Apple Vision Pro could arrive in July to app creators who wish to test the advanced version and visionOS in beta. But it will not be until the beginning of 2024 that the general public in the United States will be able to afford the headset in stores. And in France, the marketing schedule is still unknown. For the next product, maybe we will have to wait until 2026…

2 – What will change apart from the price?

Beyond the price, we can easily also bet on a new name for Apple's next VR headset. And for good reason, the current model having opted for the “Apple Vision Pro” brand with its premium technical sheet, it would be surprising if the manufacturer retained its suffix with a more accessible edition. From here to seeing a “Apple Vision“, there is only one step.

With this, Gurman is banking onlower quality screens. Which will not be difficult, given thefeaturesluxurious views of the Vision Pro panel: 4K and several thousand nits. But that's not all, since the number of sensors (including cameras) would be reduced, with also a slower processor. On the Vision Pro, there are two: the M2 and the R1.

3 – What price can you expect for the Apple Vision?

No reliable estimate has yet been published regarding the price of the head-mounted virtual reality headset, which is more affordable than the Apple Vision Pro. But going by our own hypothesis, we will always have to payseveral thousand euros.
