SFR and Bouygues merger in sight for mobile network sharing (Update)

Update: Bouygues Telecom has just made it official
with
a press release
indicating having entered into the negotiation phase
exclusive with SFR with a view to achieving the pooling of part of the network
of the two companies.

In the operator war (coverage, rates, services), we learn
whatSFRetBouygues Telecomentered into
exclusive negotiations to share part of their mobile networks.

If this agreement was successful, the 2 French operators (ranked 2nd and 3rd
operators) would give themselves "the means to appear among the actors
essential for the modernization of the digital economy in France", and this
at lower cost.

Indeed, by sharing their antennas, the two operators will be able to
improve their respective coverage without having to invest sums
important to cover the same area each on their own.

This will also make it possible to somewhat limit the proliferation of antennas without
lose coverage quality, which is clearly not a bad thing
for the health of all.

The two actors hope to sign an agreement before the end of the year in order
to improve their service while allowing faster progress on 4G and
particularly on the1800 MHz frequency compatible with iPhone
5
for which Bouygues Telecom had obtained the right of use like us
saw itin this article.

The government, through the voices of Arnaud Montebourg and Fleur Pellerin,
moreover approved this strategy which the competition authority had
set the eligibility rules at the start of the year.
