For a large majority
of children their most precious device is the smartphone because it allows
to be in permanent contact with their friends, but also to play various games,
watch videos, and many other tasks.
Some large Apple shareholders are worried about this addiction of
children for the iPhone and in a letter addressed to the Cupertino company, they
ask her tocarry out a studyon the
effects of intensive iPhone use on mental health
children.
The two Apple shareholders behind this letter represent
two billion dollarsin Apple shares, they want
the Cupertino company integratesparental controls
additionalto limit children's access to their iPhone.
Apple already offers several parental controls such as the one that asks
parents to validate an app or service purchase requested by a child for their
device or the possibility of applying restrictions on certain
apps.
In France, the Minister of National Education has decided to ban the use
mobile phones in schools and colleges from the start of the school year
2018, this is however a measure that is difficult to apply and children
are quite ingenious when it comes to finding a way around a
interdiction.
This is obviously not a problem specific to the iPhone but
who touchesall smartphones in general, remains to be seen if
Apple will launch a study and integrate new parental controls
following the request of two of its large shareholders.
Do your children spend a lot of time on their smartphones?
