The App store: a formidable engine for job creation in Europe

Apple announces
regularly during its keynotes some figures on its ecosystem with
the amounts paid to developers for example, but this data concerns
often the United States.

It is therefore a first from Cupertino to communicate
figures for Europe. Thus, Apple argues that theApp Store
generates several hundred thousand jobs, whether directly in the
physical stores or on the developer side
:

We guess that the mobile application library creates a lot
of jobs, but this is the first time that precise figures but also a
distribution of these numbers are given, at least for Europe. So,
l’App Store would be the source of no less than 629,000 jobs in
Europe
.

To go into a little detail, 132,000 work directly or
indirectly for Apple when 497,000 depend on the application store.
Among these, 280,500 developer accounts are recorded in Europe
with payments from Apple totaling $6.5 billion.

On this side, France is rather well represented with 30,000 developers
behind Germany with 52,200 people and the United Kingdom with 61,100
members. There are no less than 21,000 IOS developer positions in Europe
available at the moment so… to your CV!

Of course, Apple also mentions its own employees, particularly for
physical stores whose number has grown significantly in recent years.
Thus, no less than 16,000 employees work in Europe, including 1
800 in France.

Apple also mentions resellers or subcontractors like Seele, a
German manufacturer behind the glass used in shops.

With a catalog of 1.2 million applications, a cumulative total of 75 billion
of downloads and arecord month of July
as announced by Tim Cook
, we can bet that these figures will go
increasing.
