2024: this is the date on which large-scale production of the Apple Car could begin, according toDigiTimeswhich thus supportsa theory already developed by Taiwanese analyst Ming-Chi Kuo a few months earlier. In a recent article, the Asian newspaper even reports the names of two potential suppliers not yet associated with the project: LG Electronics and SK Group.
The first step is not unknown at Cupertino, given that its parent company already participates in the manufacturing of iPhones by designing their screen, then installed on the front of the device by the Foxconn factories. As for the second, it is also one of the largest South Korean chaebols, 129th in the Fortune Global 500 ranking ofForbeswhich takes into account the turnover of the different companies it decides between.
Reliable information?
If the hypothesis of the source of the day is similar to other estimates of the same order, it nevertheless remains relatively subject to caution. In fact, it happens thatDigiTimesis wrong when it comes to predicting the future of big companies like Apple. What's more, it also happens that the latter revises its own schedule without the media being informed.
In recent months, the Apple Car seemed rather to turn towards a software program intended for other manufacturers, having still not signed with a potential assembler. This new rumor therefore seems to put an end to this debate, given that LG Electronics is a branch specializing in hardware products. We also owe it numerous televisions and mobile phones, in direct competition with Samsung.
Innovations galore
If Apple does end up marketing a car, it could be autonomous, should be electric and will be connected. Cupertino has already filed numerous patents to protect its ideas before they even come out of the ground. Recently, plans describing external screens to warn other drivers have thus been registered with the USPTO.
In any case, 2024 is still a long way off and the market can still change between now and then, a sign that the Apple Car itself will be subject to further modifications. We still don't know much about the prototypes currently being tested, except that they are running in the United States with the approval of the Californian governor.
