Apple updates old iPhone and iPad to fix GPS bug

In parallel withthe release of iOS 12.4, watchOS 5.3, tvOS 12.4 and macOS 10.14.6, Apple has also just released a new update for two older versions, iOS 9 and iOS 10.

Specifically, Apple released iOS 9.3.6 and iOS 10.3.4 for older iPhones and iPads, which are not compatible with the newer iOS 12.4. This update can be downloaded wirelessly in Settings > General > Software Update.

iOS 9.3.6 is for the cellular models of the first iPad mini, the iPad 2 and the iPad 3, while iOS 10.3.4 is for the cellular models of the iPad 4 and the iPhone 5.

Why this update?

Apple has released these new updates to older versions of iOS, to correct a bug that could affect GPS location performance and cause the machine's system to display the wrong date and time.

Asupport pageon the Apple website, mentions that from November 3, 2019, iPhones and iPads released in 2012 and before will have to perform this update to continue to obtain a precise GPS position.
