Since 2017, Apple has entered the field of producing original video content. The Cupertino company hires the services of famous actors and directors of films and TV series, such asSteven Spielbergor evenDamien Chazelle, the director of the Oscar-winning film La La Land.
We now learn via the Variety site,that Apple is working on its first feature film. This brings together the Oscar-winning director,Sofia Coppola et Bill Murray.
This film called “On the Rocks“, is the first feature film from the Apple firm. Previous TV content ordered by Apple concerns TV series or documentaries.
According to Variety, this is thefirst project co-produced by Apple and A24. This studio is behind well-known films such as Moonlight (Oscar winner), Ex Machina, Room, and The Witch.
Apple asigned a contractover several years with the A24 studio to produce several films. “On the Rocks” is the first fruit of this alliance.
Regarding the story of the film, it is about a young mother (Sofia Coppola) who tries to mend things with her rich father (Bill Murray). The action takes place in the city of New Yok. Production on the film will begin next month.
However, we do not know if Apple is planning a cinema release for its first film, or if it will only be available via its TV content offering coming this year.
