Apple buys artificial intelligence startup

The news has just fallen, and it does not bode well for the competition of the Apple brand: it has just spent200 millionsdollars, or the equivalent of around 180 million euros at the current exchange rate, to acquire a cutting-edge technology company. This is developing a program that can recognize humans in live video recordings.

Xnor.aitherefore offers manufacturers of connected objects to embed this system in their sensors, which was also the case with Wyze's affordable models before it decided to internalize this solution. But then, what could be the reason that motivatedAppleto make such an investment?

Improving the offer for the connected home

The company that manufactures iPhones also now has a foot in home automation thanks toHomeKit, its platform allowing the different devices of a smart home to be centralized from a single application, Home. One of its branches,Secure Video, is particularly dedicated to lenses like the Circle from Logitechof which I tested the first model in 2016.

Also with Netatmo, the list of compatible tools is growing and the integration of Xnor.ai's artificial intelligence into the Cupertino service could bring it additional features. However, for the moment, no official information has yet been communicated on this subject.

Nevertheless, the team ofstartupis approached to join the premises of the Californian company in Seattle, where it is already based. We can therefore hope that it continues to work hand in hand with the one which is now its parent company.
