published by Apple on its site, the Californian giant explains in more detail
his initial intentions about the option implemented in iOS 10.2.1 which
decreases CPU frequencywith an iPhone with a dead battery.
The idea is to limit unexpected shutdowns of machines with worn batteries, under
occasional high CPU demands. It also adds some information
on hisbattery replacement programof iPhone at price
reduced, in particular the fact that changing the battery at29 euros
could only be done once a yearfor the same
device :
In fact, according to MacRumors, as part of this replacement program
running until December 2018, Apple Store technicians would have to
instructions foroffer a battery replacement for 29 euros
for any owner of iPhone 6 or more recent declaringundergo
slowdownsof his machine in use. While usually,
a battery change is only proposed for an iPhone whose diagnosis
made in Apple Store indicates abattery worn out for more than 20
%, in the case of the current program, there would therefore be no
percentage condition allowing you to benefit from the reduced rate.
On the other hand, a usercould not come back with the same iPhone
a second time during the yearto have it replaced again
battery at 29 euros justifying slowdowns. At that time it will be necessary
that the battery isdropped below 80% capacity
remaining, which corresponds to more than 500 recharge cycles
carried out. Suffice to say that such battery wear in less than a year
of use remains almost impossible, unless the component is abnormal.
Please note that in France in any case, Appleguaranteed for 3 months
its new batteries. The user can therefore claim within this period
a new change if problems persist after an initial
battery replacement.
