Apple is still working on a possible foldable iPad

A new patent filed by Apple with the competent authorities raises the case of a folding screen which would becapable of “regenerating” itselfin case of damage. A welcome solution at a time when we know that the alternatives already offered by Samsung such as the Galaxy Z Fold or Galaxy Z Flip ranges have a limited lifespan due to the hinge.

For its part, Apple is not left out and seems to have been developing a flexible panel for several years now, if we are to believe the documents officially registered to protect its intellectual property. Nevertheless, nothing proves at the momentthat the manufacturer does indeed intend to launch the sale of a mobile or tablet equipped with this technology soon.

Are customers ready?

Indeed, Cupertino would apparently like to first verify that the mobile phone sector has validated the concept of folding panels with the general public.According to information from its main Korean competitor, this is the caseand sales would even be good. But a specialized analystbelieves for its part that it is not in the portable sector that Apple could launch with this solution

Instead, it would be a folding iPad that would be in the pipeline. No one knows where the prototyping is at yet but there is no doubt that the manufacturer is trying to keep it a secret until the last minute. With this, rumors abouta large sixteen-inch headed tablethave nevertheless appeared in the press previously but these were not yet linked to any bending.

Less repair costs

At Apple, you should know that repair costs are very, very expensive in the event of screen breakage and without insurance. For example, if the display of your iPad Air (5th generation) is damaged, you will have to pay to replace it539 euroswithout 5G or 609 euros for the model with mobile data. This estimate comes from official Apple Store support documents. With AppleCare+ coverage, the price is limited to 49 euros per intervention.

A large iPadself-repairingwould therefore be welcome to avoid this type of additional cost. See you in about two years? This is what some experts suggest.
