AsWe did it for the series, Let us read here the original Apple films released in 2023 on Apple TV+ which we most liked. A Best of that falls at stake for the end-of-year holidays, where many of you will want to enjoy a few evenings and afternoon of free to rest at the corner of the end, under the duvet, alone, with family or friends. Knowing that in addition, these films and all the contents of Apple TV+can be viewed free of charge for 60 days thanks to this offer.

Without further ado, here are the films of 2023, produced by Apple, and which deserve the detour in our opinion.

Tetris

InTetris, we follow the story of Henk Rogers, an American video game developer who discovered the game Tetris in 1988. The film therefore narrates his trip to the USSR to meet Alexey Pajitnov, the creator of the game that has become legendary. His approach is of course not disinterested and he intends to import it into the West.

In the middle of the Cold War, this getaway is completely crazy, especially since the export of the game is strictly prohibited by local law. This feature film manages to show us the atmosphere of the time. He borrows from the comedy register, even if the suspense is nevertheless there with an atmosphere of a spy novel.

CastingTetrisis particularly successful with an impeccable Egerton Taron in the main role. We remember in particular his successful performances in the seriesBlack BirdOn Apple TV+, and also in the Kingsman saga. With him, we also have the pleasure of finding a very solid distribution: Roger Allam (Sandman), Toby Jones (The Pale Blue Eye), Ben Miles (Andor), Anthony Boyle (The Plot Against America), or Sharon Young (Outlander).

We will not say more so as not to spoil the viewing, but we are in any case business to a very qualitative film which is worth the detour.

Flora and Son

Flora and Sonis a dramatic musical. We follow, Flora (Eve Hewson), a single mother living with Max (Orén Kinlan), her son entering the complex of adolescence. After a flight affair for which Max is the main accused, Flora has a click: she must find new ways to reconnect with her son. Music will then play a key role in this reunion between mother and son.

Well played, well done and above all well balanced between laughter and tears,Flora and Sonis a simple film (in the noble sense of the term). No artifices here, but a touching story, anchored in the harsh reality of adolescence, parenting and monoparentality especially. Special mention for the soundtrack, really playing a role as important as Max and Eve.

Still: The life of Michel J. Fox

Apple TV+ provides among the best documents of all market platforms. And this one, centered on the life of Michael J. Fox, is the perfect illustration. He reveals the story of the actor, his successes, his failures. Obviously, Parkinson's disease has a preponderant place in the film, which allows both to discover an extraordinary man and a pathology which is ultimately just as much, by its many aspects still poorly known (causes, treatment, genetics, etc.).

Another poignant film, intended for both the actor's fans and those who do not know his work.

Stephen Curry: Underrated

Stephen Curry, possibly one of the best basketball players in the history of sport, has its exclusive documentary on Apple TV+. And what a documentary! Follow the very atypical course of the star. Considered too small by several major universities (1 m 88) at the start of a university career, he has now become one of the most famous athletes on the planet and the best shooter of all time in the NBA.

As with Michel J. Fox, the film is perfectly led, we do not get bored for almost 2 hours. No need either to understand or love basketball. “Steph” Curry, endearing, and his fascinating life are enough to get carried away as a ball during a three -point shot.

John Le Carré: The pigeon tunnel

Another documentary… This time, it's about knowing more about the life of David John Moore Cornwell, better known as John Le Carré. Less renamed than the two stars of the films previously mentioned, John Le Carré is an icon across the Channel. It is one of the most famous British novelists in Great Britain. He specialized in spy stories and several of his books have experienced large -scale cinematographic adaptations (The Taupe,Russian house,An ideal traitor, For example).

His journey is special, this is what gives a lot of interest to the documentary. Son of a violent father associated with great criminals from the 1950s, he grew up in private school before joining the British secret services around the age of 30. Within the MI6, he then begins to take the pen and take out his first spy novels. In short, a character with a hectic life.

The velvet rabbit

This film is taken from the eponymous novel, released in 1922, very well known to the British. He tells the story of a plush rabbit who comes to life, illuminated by the love that the little boy who adopted him has. This is a nice tale highlighting the themes of love, loyalty, friendship and childhood.

Accompanied by a pretty soundtrack,The velvet rabbitGo to move you, that's for sure. In addition, the whole family can take advantage of it, the film displaying no age limit.
