Bloomberg: Apple wants 90 million iPhone 13s this year

Even before the start of summer, we already know a lot about the future of the iPhone, which should be called iPhone 13. The latest information from Bloomberg reports that Apple has asked its suppliers to accelerate production of the new generation iPhone. The company plans to ship 90 million units by the end of this year, according to this new report.

Still according to Bloomberg, this figure is a slight increase compared to the habits adopted by Apple, the latter generally ordering 75 million devices for the first months of the telephone.A 20% increase in productionwhich would anticipate the return to normal life which is occurring in many countries around the world.

If the iPhone 13 should not be the technical revolution that everyone is chasing, it could be easily accessible in stores, without restrictions, a first since last March and the start of the pandemic. Bloomberg also explains that the deployment of 5G should allow Apple to sell more devices this year. The iPhone 13 being the company's second model, after the iPhone 12, to have 5G.

Any technical innovations?

Bloomberg also explains in its report that the next iPhone is expected to bring "more progressive" changes compared to the iPhone 12, which was announced with an all-new flat-edge design. The iPhone 13 (or iPhone 12S) will remain available in the same sizes as the current generation, ranging from 5.4 inches to 6.7 inches. The Cupertino company should keep two entry-level models and two more advanced models, known as the “Pro” range.

The report explains that the iPhone could have, at least on one model, an LTPO screen, capable of offering a variable refresh rate.Rumors suggest the iPhone 13 Pro will have a 120Hz display, a new feature that has already arrived on the iPad Pro in 2018.

Regarding the external part of the phone, Bloomberg respects the major current trends and thinks that Apple will succeed in reducing the size of the notch, in particular by playing on the TrueDepth camera. The rear camera should be entitled to a more powerful optical zoom, which should slightly change the physics of the back of the phone. Answer next September during the presentation of the iPhone by Tim Cook.
