New iPhone, iPad 2019 and iOS 13 features according to Bloomberg: dark mode, USB-C, 3D camera and other indiscretions!

Among the most reliable sources in the Apple universe, we can mention analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, but also Mark Gurman, former editor of 9to5Mac who now works for the American newspaper Bloomberg.

The latter has just published a new report with numerousnew features planned for iPhone 2019, iPad 2019, iPad Pro 2020, but also somenew features of iOS 13.

According to the journalist's well-informed sources, Apple plans to includea 3D camera on the back of 2020 iPhones. This camera would integratea laser scannerfor augmented reality uses.

This telemetry system would work up toa distance of 15 feet(4.57 meters), much further than the point projection system of TrueDepth sensors in current iPhones. Apple would provideat Sonyfor the components of this 3D camera. These Sony 3D sensors would use a “time of travel” approach. With a sensor that would project a laser, ricocheting off nearby objects, in order to calculate and create a 3D image of the user's environment.

Sony's technology would therefore greatlyimprove augmented reality capabilitiesof the iPhone and iPad. She couldfirst appear in iPad Pro 2020, in spring 2020, before arriving in September 2020 in the new iPhones.

Indeed, Apple had hoped to add this 3D camera in the 2019 iPhones, but ultimately decided to postpone it until next year. The Cupertino company would, however, plan to adda third photo lens for the successor to the iPhone XS Max. This additional objective would offer agreater field of visionandadditional zoom functions. For example, the ability to correct an image, to add a subject that has been partially cut off inadvertently.

Mark Gurman also mentions aimproved version of Live Photos, with a duration increasing to6 seconds.

Apple would also testseveral versions of the iPhone 2019, which would integratea USB-C connectioninstead of the Lightning. The 2019 iPhone would also featurean improved Face ID.

The journalist discusses the successor to the iPad 2018 which couldgo out this spring, which would retain the Lightning port. He would have a10 inch screenand amore powerful processor. The specialist's sources also indicate that Apple would be working ona new iPad mini.

Finally, Bloomberg mentions severalnew features of iOS 13. Namely, adark modeandCarPlay improvements. There would also be severalnew iPad-specific features, like anew home screen, of thefile management system improvements(support for external hard drives?) and atab system for apps(multiwindowing in an app).
