This option in iOS 17.2 lets Siri know everything about you

Apple has been working on its Siri virtual assistant for several months. The little voice companion isn't the smartest on the market and it's been giving Apple bad publicity for years. But the Cupertino company wants this to change and with billions of dollars invested, the first results should quickly be visible.

With the upcoming arrival of iOS 17.2or evenWatchOS 10.2, Siri should take a turning point in her story. Like all machine learning programs, it needs data to become smarter. Apple is therefore ready to give him access to new information, directly in the health application.

In order to protect the user's personal data, only devices supporting the operation of Siri “locally” will be able to provide access to their data. Sothe Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2are the only two capable of making this new option of WatchOS 10.2 work.

Regarding iPhones

On the iPhone side, things are slightly different. In fact, more Apple smartphones supporthow Siri works locally. There are therefore several applicants to host this new functionality. Concretely, the arrival of this option should allow users to ask Siri a list of specific questions about their health.

It will thus be possible to ask your voice assistant “what is my heart rate?, my blood oxygen level?” Or what is my average walking heart rate. It will also be possible to ask for the number of calories burned during the day.

Finally, and this is perhaps the part of this new functionality that interests users the most, it will be possible to add data to its health application, directly by dictating it to Siri. So commands like“my weight has changed by X kilogram(s)”or even“my period started today”will allow Siri to add new data to the Health database, which,in fact, will allow better tracking of the iPhone.
