After focusing for many months on expanding the accessibility of ChatGPT to different types of devices around the world, OpenAI unveiled last week on its site what should be one of the main updates of the year for his virtual assistant.
The free version is finally evolving
If you have been using the free version of ChatGPT since its launch, you should not have noticed any notable changes in its use. And for good reason, the OpenAI teams had other priorities.
On the one hand, they have worked hard to allow as many users as possible to benefit from their chatbot, by developing dedicated applications for the different devices available on the market.
On the other hand, they have worked to make the paid version as attractive as possible by often equipping it with new exclusive features. In particular the possibility of using GPT-4, another artificial intelligence model developed by Sam Altman's team. This model uses five hundred times more parameters than GPT-3 to process the requests submitted to it.
The paid version also gives access to a whole range of plugins allowing you to do almost anything you want via ChatGPT, such as creating a document for you or even analyzing a video and extracting certain information from it.
So many features that have created a considerable gap between the two versions. But OpenAI now seems to want to reduce this gap…
What's new ?
This update introduces six changes in total, including two reserved for ChatGPT Plus users, which as a reminder costs $20 per month.
They will now be able to provide files to the chatbot without having to use a plugin. Additionally, GTP-4 will now be used by default at startup, which was not the case before.
The other features that this upgrade brings concern both versions, the main ones being: random query suggestion as well as suggested answers.
The first provides query recommendations for people who don't know how to start a conversation with the chatbot. The second offers several relevant options to continue the exchange effectively. New functions that should delight ChatGPT's 100 million active users.
