On July 20, a pirate streaming application hiding under the name« Collect Cards : Storebox » has been removed from the App Store, even though it had been available for a year. This is an application that offers content from Apple TV+, Netflix, and other platforms for free.In Brazil, it was the second most downloaded free application in the App Store.
Apple saw nothing but fire, because the hackers had planned their move. In order to evade controls, they made the application invisible to all American IP addresses. When a user located in the United States opens Collect Cards, they do not see that it is a pirate app that offers free films and series illegally.
Since App Store approval checks are done a priori from Cupertino in the United States,it seems easy for hackers to slip through the cracks.
Uber has already done the same thing
As 9to5Mac reports, it's not just hackers trying to fool Cupertino:
This isn't the first time an app has used location data to fool App Store Review. In 2017, Uber was accused of working on a “geofencing” system for Apple's Cupertino headquarters. When the app was run inside this geofence, it automatically disabled the codes used to register fingerprints and track the user across the web.
2 new pirate streaming apps available
Following an article from 9to5Mac, Apple removed« Collect Cards : Storebox »from the App Store, but two similar apps quickly reappeared. It is about« Collect Cards : Birthday Cake », et« Collect Cards : Sugar »:
