This is how Apple should reduce the bezels of its LCD iPhone

All the rumors about the next generation of iPhone agree on the fact that Apple should unveil three new iPhones in the fall of 2018, two models with OLED screens in 5.8 and 6.5 inches, and a model with LCD display in less expensive 6.1 inches.

LCD display technology does not allow for borders as thin as with OLED screens, however a report from production lines explainshow Apple could reduce the borders of its iPhone X in LCD version.

According to a new report from the newspaper Digitimes which cites sources close to the production lines, the Japanese companyNichiawould be the sole supplier of the systembacklight for iPhone X LCD displayin 6.1 inches.

Nichia is currently the only supplier capable of manufacturing a backlighting system in0.3t LED, instead of the traditional 0.4t LED, which reduces the size of the borders of an LCD screen by4 mm to 2 mm.

Apple has reportedly reserved Nichia's backlight production capacity for the rest of the year, and is expected to bring in additional suppliers next year.

Nichia's backlighting should allow the iPhonethickerthan that of the other iPhone X 2018. In fact, as we saw with the release of the iPhonethe lower part of the screento place the connectorbelow this onein order to reduce the border to its minimum.
