If you didn't know yet, know that the control center shortcuts for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth no longer completely cut off both wireless connections. The idea is not to block certain services which operate in the background and which require Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or both technologies. This is particularly the case for AirPlay, AirDrop or even the connection with the Apple Watch or the Pencil. Unfortunately, this choice made by Apple has its disadvantages. Regularly, my iPhone tries to connect to Wi-Fi networks on the street when I would like to stay on 4G. And it's rather annoying, because the mobile connection cuts off during this time.
Fortunately, there are ways toensure complete deactivation of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Let us see in this article precisely the way that seems to us to be the most effective to achieve this. This may not be the easiest to set up, as it requires creating one or more shortcuts in Apple's Shortcuts app. But don't panic,we offer you the shortcut for downloading. All you have to do is retrieve it and save it on your iPhone or iPad, as a shortcut on the home screen, for example.
We will still explain to you how we designed this automation, if you ever want to recreate it at home. You can learn more about the Shortcuts app. You will also have the possibility to adapt the program to your preferences, for example by adding other actions or dividing our shortcut into two separate automations, one for Wi-Fi, the other for Bluetooth. It's up to you!
Creating the shortcut
- Creating a new shortcut:go to the Shortcuts application then press the “+” at the top right of the window to create a new shortcut

- Name the shortcut:press at the top, where it says “Shortcut name” and give the automation the name you want. In our case, “Wi-Fi and Bluetooth”. The shortcut is already saved with the correct name

Added essential actions
- Now tap “Add Action”
- Search for the “Choose from menu” action by, for example, typing “Menu” in the search bar and tap it to add it
- Rename the menu items: “One” becomes “Wi-Fi”, “Two” becomes “Bluetooth”

- Optional: you can add a new element “Both”, which will allow you to cut Bluetooth and Wi-Fi in one action
- Rename the text of the menu where “Prompt” is written: this text will be displayed at the top of the choice menu that you are customizing. For example, rename it to “Cut:”
- Optional: feel free to add emojis to make the choice more visually evident
Each menu item has created sub-steps corresponding to the names you gave. Normally, you have below, before “End of menu”, 2 or 3 steps (3 in our case).

Then follow the steps given below:
Wi-Fi:
- Find the “Set Wi-Fi” action and add it
© iPhon.fr
- Drag it using a tap and hold on it just under the first menu which we have named “Wi-Fi”
- Tap “Enable” to change it to “Disable”
If you added a third menu “Both”, short press the Wi-Fi action and choose “Duplicate”. Move the copied action after the “Both” menu, but before “End Menu”.

Bluetooth :
Do the same for the “Set Bluetooth” action, but instead of adding it under the “Wi-Fi” menu, add it under the “Bluetooth” menu. The identical action should be added as before after the “Both” menu and before “End of menu”, if you have chosen to add a third menu.

You can already test your shortcut at this point. The first choice should disable Wi-Fi completely, the second choice disables Bluetooth, the third choice disables both.
Customizing the shortcut
Your shortcut is functional, but you can go even further in editing it. Personally, I appreciate that a notification validates one or more actions of a shortcut. Here, you can add a notification signaling the deactivation of Bluetooth, another for Wi-Fi, and a third for deactivation of both. To do this, find the “Show notification” action and add it to your shortcut.
Duplicate it twice and add the three notification actions in the right places. The first under “Wi-Fi Disable”, the second under “Turn off Bluetooth” and the third before “End of menu”. Of course, you have to modify the text of each notification, according to your preferences. To do this, simply describe your text instead of “Hello everyone”. For example :
- Wi-Fi disabled
- Bluetooth disabled
- Wi-Fi and Bluetooth disabled

Thus, each notification will confirm the correct functioning of the shortcut and validation of the deactivation choice.
Before moving on to the last step, know that you canchange the symbol and color of the shortcut icon. This icon is particularly visible in the Shortcuts app, but also in newly configured notifications. We therefore encourage you to carry out this customization.

Choosing the shortcut launch mode
From now on, it's up to you to see how to make this shortcut accessible in the simplest way, according to your habits. By pressing the three bars at the top right of the screen, you can for example add this shortcut to the home screen, which we invite you to do.

You will then find a link to this shortcut among your apps. So, you can turn off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or both in no time.

Without it, you can also launch the shortcut from Spotlight search, via a Siri request, or via a widget. It's up to you.
To turn Wi-Fi or Bluetooth back on, simply tap the corresponding icon in the Control Center.
- The shortcut is available here. You can download it and add it to your library
